Issac was born in the village of Girkalnis ( current Lithuanian name) or Girtagola ( old Sheti name ) in the Uyezd of Raseniniai in the Guberniya of Kaunas ( or Kovno Guberniya ) in the country of Lithuania.

Isac's occupation is listed on his son , Philip's, marriage certificate as a " medical Practitioner" however it is said that this is only a myth perpetrated by certain members of the family in order to step up the social ladder.

His grandsons Issac or Willie apparently replied when asked if Isac was a doctor " Naa! don't believe everything you hear. He might have cured someone's bunions but he wasn't a doctor."

He was possibly a " Whealer and dealer" of some sort who " used a few hocus pocus herbal cures on some locals "

2. PHILIP² ROSENBERG (ISAC¹) was born Abt. 1887 in Girkalnis, and died 19 December 1924 in London¹. He married LEAH WOOLFOVITCH 20 May 1908 in Mile End London, daughter of ISRAEL WOOLFOVITCH and HANNA AMSCHEL. She was born Abt. 1890, and died 19 November 1964¹.

Leah would sow button holes for a living and work until 2am while sitting on the boiler for warmth. Barry would then bring them in a sack to the tailors for which he was paid 5 Shillings.

Leah lived in a house in Hackney with her family on one floor while ? lived in a flat upstairs.

The certificate states Phillip (two l's) a Tailor (Journeyman)as being 20 while Leah a tailor was 19. They were both resident at 28 Solander Street Shadwell. Isaac Rosenberg a medical practitioner is Phillip's father while Israel Wolfe (deceased is Leah's father. They sign the certificate with their mark, in Philips case this a a very fancy P R.

Maurice changed his name to Maurice Baker when he moved to Ireland. He was born Israel Rosenberg which he changed to Maurice Jackson.

When he married Minna he insisted on having a maid in uniform in the house although he may not have been able to afford it. He was always a great show man even if he didn't have the where with all to back it up. When Minna was due to give birth to Regina she only had a mid wife in attendance as a doctor was deemed too expensive. However when Gina was born Maurice arrived with a full window display of chocolates which would have cost a fortune.

He left England with Regina after Mina gave birth to Rodney and fell for Margaret (aka Joan) whom he married as a Roman Catholic. He may have converted to Catholic at Adam & Eves Franciscan Church, Merchants Quay. He lived his life to the full and always looked the part with his tailored suits and coats.

Joan was a very skillful machinists and when added to Maurice's Tailoring skills they formed the perfect working partners. At the time when Maurice moved to Ireland, with his wife Mina, you needed an Irish person as 51% shareholder to start a company

Notes for REGINA A. JACKSON:

Maurice moved to Ireland with Regina around the time of Rodney's birth. He had difficulty trying to work and make ends meet with a 4 year old daughter.

Regina lived in Meath Rd Bray Ireland from the age of 4 to 14.She was fostered by a family named O' Brian.

Mina followed to Ireland with Rodney when Gina was 7.

When Maurice would not make his maintenance payments on time Minna would deposit Gina on the steps of his factory. She attended school in St Andrews Bray and Wesley College until Maurice didn't pay the fee's.

She was sent back to England to live with Leah and joined the young Communist league when she was only 14.

Regina was working in Selfridges when during 1949, and the days of rationing, Maurice announced he was visiting for the day, he bribed her boss with a pair of nylons, and they set off shopping in a market in London. Regina had a love of fruit and Maurice ordered " a pound of apples, bunch of grapes 2 pound of Cherries and a hand of bananas". He was told that only holders of a green book ( a pregnant ladies ration book) could have the bananas. and he was not getting them. Less than 10 minutes latter he had convinced the trader he would organize a shipment of bananas from the Canaries Islands shipped via Cork to Hollyhead and they both would make a fortune. Needless to say he got his hand of Bananas and the trader may be still waiting for the shipment.

She had a watch importing business from 1972 to 83 and still runs a jewelers with her daughter Lesley.
